(Colombo Gazette) The United National Party (UNP) today called for the unconditional release of former Army Commander General Sarath Fonseka.UNP Deputy Leader Sajith Premadasa, addressing the R. Premadasa commemorative event in Colombo, said that terrorism was defeated as a result of the leadership given to the military by Fonseka in 2009. Sarath Fonseka’s wife Anoma Fonseka was among the guests at the commemorative event while several UNP members and supporters also attended. Speaking here further Premadasa also said that while the UNP welcomes the defeat of terrorism, the country was yet to experience the true fruits of peace.
