first_imgLiam Kearns side’s booked their place in the last four by beating Connacht champions Galway 3-13 to 1-10 at Croke Park. The Tribesmen made a bright start and build up a 0-4 to 0-1 lead by the 15th minute but Tipp soon got into their stride at Croke Park, although they did miss a number of apparently scoreable opportunities.A goal from the hugely impressive Michael Quinlivan was the key score during the Premier County’s period of dominance in the first half. However, Galway responded with a goal of their own from Damien Comer in stoppage time at the end of the opening period which meant that Liam Kearns’ side led 1-8 to 1-5 at the break.Tipperary weren’t fazed, though, and performed with great composure during the second half. Two goals from Man of the Match Conor Sweeney helped put the Premier out of sight and they coasted to victory despite getting their last score – through captain Peter Acheson – in the 56th minute of the match.Their cause was further helped when Galway sub Adrian Varley was black-carded.Tipperary will play either Mayo or Tyrone in the All-Ireland Semi-Final on August 21st.last_img
