first_imgSome kind of wonderful news from L.A.! The 57th Annual Grammy Awards took place on February 8, and Beautiful: The Carole King Musical took home the trophy for Best Musical Theater Album. The tuner beat out the albums of Aladdin, A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder, Hedwig and the Angry Inch and the San Francisco Symphony’s West Side Story during the Premiere Ceremony.The Beautiful win is shared by the Tony-winning leading lady Jessie Mueller and producers Jason Howland, Steve Sidwell and Billy Jay Stein.Additional artists of note to the theater community who took home gold gramophones include Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, who won for both Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media for the Disney megahit Frozen and for the Best Song Written for Visual Media for the film’s anthem “Let It Go.” Additionally, the late Joan Rivers—a Tony nominee and ally to the Broadway community—received the Best Spoken Word Album Grammy for Diary of a Mad Diva.Check out our exclusive video of Mueller recording the album that won her a Grammy!
