West End Dates Announced for the Kinks Bio-Musical Sunny Afternoon

The 1960s band that rocked a nation is now going to be rocking the West End. As expected, Sunny Afternoon, the bio-musical about The Kinks, will transfer to the Harold Pinter Theatre after an acclaimed run at the Hampstead Theatre. Directed by Edward Hall, with music and lyrics by Ray Davies and a book by Joe Penhall, Sunny Afternoon will begin previews on October 4. Press night is set for October 28. View Comments The show is set against the back-drop of a Britain caught mid-swing between the conservative 50s and riotous 60s. Sunny Afternoon explores the euphoric highs and agonizing lows of The Kinks and features some of the band’s classic songs, including “You Really Got Me,” “Waterloo Sunset” and “Lola.”center_img The cast will also include Carly Anderson, Philip Bird, Ben Caplan, Lillie Flynn, Emily Goodenough, Vince Leigh, Amy Ross, Dominic Tighe and Tam Williams. Further casting will be announced later. The principal cast members will reprise their roles in the West End incarnation.
