You will be deeply missed.[H/T MLB] Last week, the news broke that the Queen of Soul, Aretha Fraklin, died at the age of 76. Though reports began to surface that Franklin was “gravely ill” earlier in the week, the soul singer’s loss still has left the music community in shock. Since the announcement of Aretha Franklin’s death, countless artists and public figures have come forward to offer their condolences and remembrances of the iconic singer–including the MLB’s Detroit Tigers, who paid tribute to Franklin on the day of her death in their game notes. Franklin began her career singing in a gospel choir in Detroit, where her father was a minister. On Tuesday evening, the Tigers once again paid their respects to the lost legend. Before the team took the field for their game against the Chicago Cubs, fans at Comerica Park participated in a moment of silence for Aretha Franklin. The stadium displayed a picture of Aretha with the words “RESPECT” and “Forever Our Queen” on the big screen to honor her legacy. Then, during the solemn moment, a giant rainbow miraculously appeared above Aretha’s photo on the big screen, highlighting the word “RESPECT” as if it was a message from Aretha herself. You’ve got to see it to believe it!last_img
