first_imgSwear and Shake, the Nashville-based group consisting of Adam McHeffey (vocals, guitar, and piano), Kari Spieler (vocals and guitar), and Shaun Savage (electric bass), just released a brand-new album today. The Sound Of Letting Go marks the second full-length album from the trio following Maple Ridge, which was released independently back in 2012. The latest from Swear and Shake is a delectable listen, with the group perfectly melding old-school pop sensibilities, dramatic orchestral builds, and soulful and heartfelt vocals to create a sound that is uniquely their own.Swear and Shake’s The Sound Of Letting Go was recorded in Richmond’s production house Spacebomb. There, the group found the space that would help them successfully take on their ambitious sophomore release. The album can be read as a musical journal that captures glimpses of the trio’s recent past as an ensemble, with relatable themes of change and the realizations that come from such changes working their way across the record. As noted by Spieler, “What a sweet release this record is for us. Lovers and friends have come and gone. We relocated to a new city, all the while compiling the songs that would become The Sound of Letting Go.”Initially based in Brooklyn, after two years as a touring unit, the members of Swear and Shake picked up and moved down to Nashville, where the three have been thriving and soaking up the city’s music-rich culture and history. Previously described by McHeffey as “one giant exhale” following Swear and Shake’s move south, The Sound Of Letting Go renders the band’s move and self-discovery as independent artists into a tangible and thoughtful thirteen-track album. Across its tracks, the record is simultaneously wistful and optimistic and made cohesive by the group’s unique ability to tap into the roots of nostalgia among listeners. The project was originally funded on Pledge Music, making The Sound Of Letting Go a highly anticipated release for Swear and Shake’s ever-growing and ever-supportive fan base. And listening to the album, this makes sense—Swear and Shake presents their commanding and confident sound in a gorgeous package, with the album only amplified by the group’s underlying disposition toward earnestness and self-reflection.Live For Live Music is pleased to present the premiere of Swear and Shake’s latest album The Sound Of Letting Go. You can listen to the group’s immaculate sophomore album below, as well as check out their upcoming tour dates.
