Comment Unai Emery is under pressure in north London (Picture: Getty Images)‘They can’t get into the same position as with Arsene Wenger where 50 per cent of the supporters want him to stay and the other 50 per cent want him out and every time something goes wrong on the pitch it’s almost as if the supporters are in crisis with each other.’Winterburn is already considering who should replace Emery in the hot seat, and feels that a former players is the right way to go.He sees current Arsenal coach Freddie Ljungberg and Manchester City coach Mikel Arteta as options, but feels that former captain Vieira is the most interesting option.‘I don’t know if they would be as brave to go with someone like Ljungberg or Arteta. They may be terrific coaches but when you take that manager’s role it steps up another couple of levels again.‘I would say keep an eye on what’s happening with Patrick Vieira. If someone like that could prove they are able to run a club in the right way, then Arsenal may look towards that eventually.’More: FootballRio Ferdinand urges Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to drop Manchester United starChelsea defender Fikayo Tomori reveals why he made U-turn over transfer deadline day moveMikel Arteta rates Thomas Partey’s chances of making his Arsenal debut vs Man CityVieira is currently in charge of Ligue 1 side Nice, taking over in June last year and enjoying a solid first season in charge, finishing seventh. However, the current campaign is not going especially well for the World Cup winner, with three straight Ligue 1 defeats leaving Nice 15th in the table.MORE: Jose Mourinho open to replacing Unai Emery as Arsenal managerMORE: Arsenal decide against disciplining Granit Xhaka due to his ‘fragile’ mental health Advertisement Arsenal should consider Patrick Vieira as manager after Unai Emery, believes Nigel Winterburn Phil HaighWednesday 30 Oct 2019 11:52 amShare this article via facebookShare this article via twitterShare this article via messengerShare this with Share this article via emailShare this article via flipboardCopy link338Shares Advertisement Patrick Vieira has been touted as a future Arsenal manager (Picture: Getty Images)Arsenal cannot let Unai Emery go the same way as Arsene Wenger and should be considering Patrick Vieira as a potential replacement, believes club legend Nigel Winterburn.Emery is under pressure at the Emirates after a patchy start to the season which has seen them win just four of their opening 10 Premier League matches. The Spaniard is also dealing with issues away from the results, with captain Granit Xhaka clashing with fans as he was substituted during the 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace on Sunday.Winterburn does not expect Emery to get the axe any time soon, believing he will still be in charge at the end of the season, but as fans continue to question his methods, the former Gunners defender does not want to see the poisonous atmosphere of a couple of years ago return to the Emirates.AdvertisementAdvertisementADVERTISEMENT‘I always said that when Unai Emery came in he would get at least two years. To be fair last year wasn’t his team,’ Winterburn told Gambling.com.‘Now he’s had significant funds this season to make those changes. He’s brought in younger players which I agree with. But I would think that if Arsenal don’t get into the top four there will be a review.
Why Jackson? Boston hit the jackpot. Danny Ainge’s team won the lottery during a run to the Eastern Conference finals. So, naturally they trade the top pick. Jackson has been the darling of the draft and linked to all of the teams at the top of the board. He is a strong defender on the wing and can slide to power forward. He makes the Celtics even scarier.4. Phoenix SunsDe’Aaron Fox, PG, KentuckyWhy Fox? The team with the second-worst record in the NBA fell out of the lottery’s top three but will still be able to find an impact player to pair with budding superstar Devin Booker in the backcourt. They’d love Ball, but Fox outplayed the UCLA star in their NCAA Tournament matchup and is a fine consolation prize.5. Sacramento KingsJayson Tatum, SF, DukeWhy Tatum? The Kings are in full rebuild mode after dumping mercurial center DeMarcus Cousins on New Orleans. A dynamic two-way player like Tatum, 6-foot-8 with a 6-11 wingspan, helps accelerate that process.6. Orlando MagicLauri Markkanen, F/C, FinlandWhy Markkanen? The Magic could use some depth in the frontcourt, and the agile 7-footer from Arizona (via Finland) has drawn comparisons to Dirk Nowitzki. It’s doubtful he’ll be that good immediately, but Orlando, which already has Aaron Gordon at power forward, can afford to give him time to develop.7. Minnesota TimberwolvesMalik Monk, G, KentuckyWhy Monk? Minnesota ranked dead last in the NBA in bench scoring last season. Monk will contend for time with Zach LaVine but might be a more complete scorer right now. The Timberwolves are so young already they could look to trade this pick for a player with NBA experience.8. New York KnicksFrank Ntilikina, PG, FranceWhy Ntilikina? You can bet Phil Jackson and the Knicks will do something unconventional. They’re looking for a point guard given the uncertainty around Derrick Rose. Ntilikina is 6-5 and plays both sides of the ball. He dominated the U-18 Euro Championships, leading France to the title.9. Dallas MavericksJonathan Isaac, F, Florida StateWhy Isaac? The Mavericks need to start thinking about what comes after Nowitzki, and Isaac has perhaps the most upside of anyone in the draft. Mark Cuban & Co. will be delighted if Isaac falls to them. Tenacious and athletic, the 6-11, 205-pounder is often compared to Kevin Durant at the same age.10. Sacramento KingsDennis Smith, Jr., PG, N.C. StateWhy Smith? In a draft rich with point guards, Smith might be the safest choice. He has fallen a bit, but for a Kings team that relied on Darren Collison and Ty Lawson at point last season, an explosive, attacking guard sounds like a dream.11. Charlotte BobcatsLuke Kennard, SG, DukeWhy Kennard? A big guard to pair with Kemba Walker, one who shoots the lights out from 3-point range and just happened to play his college ball in the Tar Heel State? Perfect. The only question is whether Michael Jordan can bring himself to draft a Blue Devil.12. Detroit PistonsDonovan Mitchell, SG, LouisvilleWhy Mitchell? He is a physical guard despite only being 6-2. Mitchell averaged 15.6 points last season and made himself into a 3-point shooter in his sophomore season.13. Denver NuggetsZach Collins, PF, GonzagaWhy Collins? He broke out in the NCAA Tournament, guiding the Zags to the national championship game. He’s an efficient 7-footer who can shoot the ball and, though he is still rather lean, does not shy away from the dirty work.14. Miami HeatJohn Collins, PF, Wake ForestThe Heat are desperate for another quality big man to pair with star center Hassan Whiteside and Collins is athletic and active, although his offensive game has plenty of room to improve.15. Portland Trail BlazersHarry Giles, C, DukeWhy Giles? The No. 1 player in the class of 2016 will get a shot despite his struggles at Duke.16. Chicago BullsBam Adebayo, PF, KentuckyWhy Adebayo? He is the sort of active, aggressive player who does everything well, including defend the pick-and-roll.17. Milwaukee BucksO.G. Anunoby, F, IndianaWhy Anunoby? Even with a new GM in place, the Bucks are stockpiling length. Anunoby is 6-8 with a 7-2 wingspan.18. Indiana PacersJustin Jackson, SF, North CarolinaWhy Jackson? The Pacers need to prepare for life without Paul George, who has eyes on L.A., and Jackson could step in and play right away.19. Atlanta HawksJarrett Allen, C, TexasWhy Allen? A mobile center who can shoot the ball, Allen might eventually be a better fit for Coach Mike Budenholzer’s offense than the over-the-hill Dwight Howard.20. Portland Trail BlazersTJ Leaf, PF, UCLAWhy Leaf? The Blazers need help in the frontcourt, and Leaf’s one season in Westwood proved he can score.21. Oklahoma City ThunderTerrance Ferguson, SG, Adelaide 36ersWhy Ferguson? The Texas native was a top-20 recruit before deciding to skip college and spend a year playing pro ball in Australia.22. Brooklyn NetsJustin Patton, C, CreightonWhy Patton? He is a project and the Nets, going nowhere fast, can take their time with him.23. Toronto RaptorsKyle Kuzma, PF, UtahWhy Kuzma? No one else enjoyed a boost from the Draft Combine as much as Kuzma. The Raptors have drafted Utes the last two years, so why not?24. Utah JazzIke Anigbogu, C, UCLAWhy Anigbogu? A third first-rounder for UCLA, and one who happens to give Utah a long, impactful backup for Rudy Gobert25. Orlando MagicJawun Evans, PG, Oklahoma StateWhy Evans? Yes, the Magic have Elfrid Payton. Unlike Payton, the speedy Evans is actually a threat to score the ball.26. Portland Trail BlazersIsaiah Hartenstein, C, GermanyWhy Hartenstein? He was born in Oregon, and like Trail Blazers great Arvydas Sabonis, began his professional career at Zalgiris in Lithuania.27. Lakers (from Brooklyn)Semi Ojeleye, F, SMUWhy Ojeleye? He is the rare player who spent several years in college, and that seasoning will go a long way with a team that won just 26 games.28. LakersTyler Lydon, SF, SyracuseWhy Lydon? The Lakers have struggled to find a reliable spot-up shooter. Lydon shot 40 percent from 3-point range in two seasons with the Orange.29. San Antonio SpursWesley Iwundu, SF, Kansas StateWhy Iwundu? Gregg Popovich is earning a living drafting 3-and-D players with eye-popping measurables. Iwundu might be raw, but he can develop.30. Utah JazzFrank Jackson, G, DukeWhy Jackson? A Utah native, Jackson fits the bill for a Jazz team unsure what its backcourt will look like after this summer when George Hill and Joe Ingles hit free agency. Staff writer Bill Oram predicts how the first round of Thursday’s NBA draft might unfold. Will the Lakers go with Lonzo Ball at No. 2? Where will Josh Jackson finally land after being linked to so many teams? What about UCLA’s other potential first-round picks?1. Philadelphia 76ers (From Boston)Markelle Fultz, PG, WashingtonWhy Fultz? Philly is selling the farm to get Fultz, the consensus best player in the field. The 76ers sent three first-round picks to Boston and believe he is the missing piece to their dynamic young core. Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons just have to stay healthy. Former Rudd-Rockford-Marble Rock Teacher Under Investigation for Financial Improprieties Related to School PTO and Junior Class Accounts
ROCKFORD- A former special education teacher in North Iowa is under investigation for financial improprieties related to a school district PTO and junior class accounts.According to an investigation report from the state auditor’s office issued on Tuesday, Deb Kadera, a former teacher in the Rudd-Rockford-Marble Rock school district, improperly handled the financial transactions of the PTO and district’s junior class accounts during a ten year period from May 2009 to January 2019.The district requested the state auditor conduct the investigation after they were notified in January 2019 that the district PTO account was overdrawn by a former PTO member, whose name was still on the PTO’s bank account as well as questioning Kadera as to why she had not submitted any cash collections from a recent junior class fundraiser. The special investigation by the state auditor identified $18,086 that was collected but never deposited, another $3,783 that was improperly disbursed and another $3,162 of unsupported disbursements from the PTO accounts. Around $2,400 of the improper disbursements were to Kadera’s personal bank accounts, while $1,360 were in other payments.Kadera also made transfers of $2,475 from her personal account to the PTO account and three checks totaling $3,745 were also deposited in the PTO account, according to the investigation. In a written statement by Kadera in January 2019, which was included in the report by State Auditor Rob Sand, Kadera said those payments were done to pay back money she and her husband had taken from the PTO account.Kadera also in 2019 said that she had not made any deposits for the junior class fundraiser because she kept the cash in her classroom but had not turned it in because it was missing. It totaled $390 which she said she would repay.Kadera was placed on paid administrative leave in January 2019 and she later resigned. Copies of the report were sent to the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, the Floyd County Attorney’s Office and the state attorney general. The Floyd County Sheriff had been investigating the alleged financial improprieties and continues to do so. Charges are pending the outcome of the investigation. You can view the full report from the state auditor’s office: CLICK HERE
Ante Rebic [left] in action for Croatia Under-21s 1 Tottenham are weighing up a summer move for Fiorentina striker Ante Rebic, according to sources in Italy. The Croatia international reportedly impressed Spurs scouts during the first leg of Croatia’s Under-21 European Championship play-off defeat to England.Rebic is currently on loan at German side RB Leipzig for the season, after enduring a frustrating first year in Serie A last term. The 21-year-old made just five appearances for Fiorentina last season after joining from Croatian club RNK Split. And now, according to TMW, Tottenham are considering a summer bid for Rebic as manager Mauricio Pochettino looks to add to his attacking options. There had been talk of a January offer for the Croatian striker, but given Leipzig’s current loan agreement with Fiorentina that is said to be out of the question.
Joe Hart will not be guaranteed a starting spot despite being restored to the Manchester City line-up for their win at Fulham. The England goalkeeper was recalled by boss Manuel Pellegrini for his first Premier League game since City’s defeat at Chelsea on October 27.Pellegrini said Hart’s display at Craven Cottage, when he twice denied Fulham’s Adel Taarabt, would keep him in the side for now but warned there were no guaranteed spots for any of his star-studded squad. The City manager said: “Joe deserved to play today and at the moment he deserves to continue.“When [Costel] Pantilimon started, I spoke with Joe and he understood perfectly that he was not in a good moment.“But he’s been working hard and I thought he deserved another opportunity.“He did well but we will see what happens every match.“We have a squad and as a manager I have to make a decision every week as to who will play, not only Joe Hart.”Follow West London Sport on TwitterFind us on Facebook
